There’s quite a few treatments out there which claim to offer non-surgical fat reduction using cooling technology, but what makes CoolSculpting different and our choice of treatment?
First and foremost, CoolSculpting was the first fat freezing treatment and is the only fat freezing treatment to date which has been approved by the FDA. The FDA approves drugs and medical equipment in the US to ensure that they are safe and effective for the public. Until there is a UK equivalent, FDA approval is something important that both patients and clinics look for when choosing new treatments.
Although other machines claim to use the ‘same’ technology, this isn’t strictly true as CoolSculpting uses patented technology and other devices cannot ‘piggy back’ on CoolSculpting’s FDA approval. Whilst efficacy is important when choosing a treatment, safety should never be overlooked especially when the tabloids are often filled with horror stories about cut-price treatments. What really impressed us at the clinic was CoolSculpting’s excellent safety record. As fat cells freeze at a warmer temperature to other tissues, it is very important that the temperature never gets too low as this can damage the skin and other tissues. CoolSculpting constantly monitors skin temperature and will automatically switch off should the temperature ever dip too low.
As CoolSculpting is the original fat-freezing treatment, they have had time to conduct plenty of studies into the efficacy of the treatment. One study that is particularly interesting is a case study of patients 5 and 9 years post-CoolSculpting, you can check it out here, the visual results of this study are posted below:
We often get enquiries asking why CoolSculpting is more expensive than similar devices. The answer is that it is a premium treatment, years of scientific research has gone into the creation of the device and applying for patents and FDA approval requires investment.
CoolSculpting also has a very intensive ongoing training programme for practitioners which includes regular practical and theory training. As thorough training is essential to the success of a CoolSculpting treatment, Allergan have created CoolSculpting Universities across the globe for advanced training and masterclasses.
At the Light Touch Clinic our two talented medical aestheticians Marisa and Cecilia do all of our CoolSculpting treatments. Both have been working in the aesthetic industry for years and have completed their CoolSculpting training. At the time of writing they are about to embark on CoolSculpting University in the next few weeks for advanced training!
Both of them are friendly and professional, talking about your body and the thought of having someone look at your problem areas can be quite daunting but our welcoming aestheticians will make you feel at ease.
