Lip Fillers

Lip fillers can be used to address a variety of conditions that affect the appearance of the lips, including: thin lips, vertical lip lines and dry lips.

Thin lips can often be inherited through the genes, or develop as a person gets older as part of the change in skin structure and a loss in collagen. These internal processes are also responsible for the development of lines and wrinkles, which can affect both the top and bottom lip, on the skin that surrounds the mouth or on the lips themselves. Through ageing and other external contributors, the lips can lose hydration and become dry.

Dermal fillers for the lips contain a special formulation that is kinder and more gentle to this sensitive area of the face. At Light Touch Clinic, a smooth gel that can enhance, or ‘augment’, the lips is administered through a micro-cannula. This method ensures the procedure is more comfortable and produces less side effects. The aim of this procedure is to create a naturally fuller look which accentuates the inherent curves of the lips and the cupids bow. This is achieved by administering the right amount of filler in order to replace the volume that has been lost. Volumised skin can also help to smooth out the appearance of lines around the top and bottom lip (vertical lip lines), as well as the deeper creases that form through ageing and also when we smile (marionette lines and nasolabial folds). As lip fillers also contain Hyaluronic acid, this can boost the skin’s hydration for a younger appearance that also restores a moist and dewy look.

Light Touch Clinic uses the leading brands of filler on the market – Juvederm and Aliaxin. During a pre-treatment consultation, one of the team’s lip augmentation specialists will recommend the right amount of filler for your needs, that restores the natural contouring and definition of this luscious feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I suitable for this treatment?

Whether your lips are thinner by nature, or have lost volume through ageing, lip fillers can help to recontour this feature by augmenting the capacity of the lip. This helps to redefine the lips shape as well as helping to smooth out any lines that may also surround. By attending a thorough assessment at a pre-treatment consultation will enable one of Light Touch’s expert aestheticians to outline if this procedure will benefit you.

Is this a safe treatment?

Juvederm and Aliaxin fillers for augmenting the lips are clinically proven brands that are used by the clinic for their excellent reputation in safety, and are FDA approved. Light Touch Clinic are proud to say they invest continually in the quality of their staff and ensure they undertake a regular program of training. This ensures that high standards within the clinic are upheld, including the care and safety of all their patients.

Will it hurt?

Lip fillers at light Touch Clinic are administered through the use of a micro-cannula. This may be a little uncomfortable upon insertion but this technique enables the procedure to be less painful than with other injectable techniques. If the patient prefers, a topical numbing cream can be applied before the treatment commences, in order to alleviate any sensitivity the insertion of the cannula may produce.

What can I expect after the treatment?

The outcome of this treatment is to replace the volume in the lips that has been lost. Light Touch Clinic’s lip augmentation specialist aims to create a subtly fuller look to the lips, by following the patient’s natural contouring.

The results will last between 9 and 12 months, when a follow-up procedure will bring back the look you have come to adore. For 48 hours you will need to avoid medications like aspirin and ibuprofen, as well as drinking alcohol. Pressure on the lips, sun exposure and extreme heat should also be avoided, as should strenuous exercise, wearing lipstick and smoking. It is important to ensure you drink plenty of water.

Are there any side effects or risks?

During your pre-treatment consultation, you will be fully informed regarding the potential complications that can incur as a result of having lip fillers. Although these effects are rare, they can include: prolonged swelling, asymmetric lips, infection, tissue loss, ulceration and scarring.

Definitely recommend.

Sarah

Natalie and staff have been exceptionally helpful, and a special thank you to Natalie for her professionalism in helping me with a long-term problem as a result of poor dental work which led to pain and swelling on the left side of my face. Due to her amazing laser treatment I was fortunate enough to resolve the problem and recovered very quickly afterwards- after weeks of pain. Well done Natalie with your care and commitment.
