CoolSculpting is a fantastic treatment for those of us that are close to our ideal weight but have little pockets of fat we just can’t shift. What I love most about this treatment is that it is non-invasive. There are no scalpels, no anaesthetic and no scars. Relax, watch Netflix or even take a nap whilst having the treatment in our new CoolSculpting suite.

CoolSculpting is an award-winning fat-freezing treatment that is able to target and reduce stubborn body fat that is difficult to lose by diet and exercise alone.
The treatment works using the process of cryolipolysis or Fat Freezing. The unwanted fat is gently drawn into a vacuum where it is exposed to low temperatures which damage the fat cells, triggering their natural death. They are then naturally removed from the body over the coming weeks. Equipped with Freeze Detect technology CoolSculpting constantly monitors your skin’s temperature to prevent against freeze burn, making it a safe technology. CoolSculpting is also approved by the FDA.
Its proven results combined with it’s safety record has made CoolSculpting the world’s most popular non-invasive fat reduction treatment. Millions of treatments have been performed across the globe.
CoolSculpting is a specialist treatment, thorough training is needed to ensure maximum results. Both of our Body Contouring experts have undergone thorough training with Zeltiq (the manufacturers of CoolSculpting) to ensure that they know the latest techniques to sculpt the body.
Many of our patients will start to notice results as soon as 3 weeks*. However, the very best results will be seen at 3 months after your CoolSculpting treatment. CoolSculpting was developed by Harvard scientists who discovered that when fat cells are exposed to cold they become terminally injured and gradually die. After further research the scientists were able to pinpoint a precise temperature that destroyed fat without damaging nerves, skin and other surrounding tissue and the concept of CoolSculpting cryolipolysis was born.
The CoolSculpting machine comes with different sized heads that re-contour the most common fat-prone areas including the stomach and thighs. The fat is drawn into the head creating a vacuum and then cooled to a temperature that destroys the fat cells. It takes around 3 weeks for the fat cells to shrink and die during which time they are metabolised and excreted by the body as waste.
Is CoolSculpting Painful?
No. The treatment has been specifically designed to be as painless as possible. For the fat tissue to be frozen, the treatment area must remain in the CoolSculpting machine for up to an hour. During this time, you may experience slight feeling of throbbing or pressure while fatty cells become frozen.
What’s the Expected Recovery Time?
Full recovery can take up to two weeks. Immediately after the procedure, the treated area will feel hard and cold with skin tissue resuming to its normal texture within ten minutes. The area may be tender for around two weeks.
What Happens to the Frozen Fat Cells?
They naturally thaw and are then flushed from the body. Freezing fat cells causes them to deteriorate and eventually die. The body then begins to metabolise these dead fat cells which are then naturally excreted through the urinary system. This process has zero affect on cholesterol or fat levels in the blood.
Am I Eligible for CoolSculpting?
A patient of any weight is able to have the treatment. However, best results are seen in patients who have areas of soft ‘pinchable fat’ and are within two stones of their preferred weight.
How Many Treatments Would I Need?
Most patients require one to three treatments. Each round of CoolSculpting typically reduces fat by 20-40%*. Depending on the size of fatty cells in a single area, more than one treatment may be required.
If you have a number of fatty areas across the body that you would like to be reduced (such as flabby thighs, bingo wings, muffin top), then we recommend our Treatment to Transformation Programme which delivers total body contouring.
Are the Results Long Lasting?
Yes. Once the fat cells are frozen, destroyed by metabolisation, and naturally extracted by the body, your weight should remain stable. This is of course dependent on if you maintain a balanced diet and with frequent exercise.
Are There Potential Health Risks?
The risks are minimal. With any non-invasive procedure, there is a very small chance of complications. Due to this, all fat reduction treatments at the Light Touch Clinic, including CoolSculpting, will only be undertaken after a face-to-face consultation. This health assessment will always be conducted by one of our medically qualified doctors, where the full list of cautions and contraindications will be discussed in detail with you.
All procedures carried out by the Light Touch Clinic will only ever be performed by highly trained practitioners.
Are There Alternatives to CoolSculpting?
Yes. Vanquish is an excellent fat reduction option and a genuine alternative to cryolipolysis (fat freezing).
Everyone is different. To help you decide which treatment option is the most suitable, you will be asked to join a consultation with one of our doctors. They will offer helpful advice, answer any questions or concerns, and run through the best treatment options available to you.
CoolSculpting is a highly skilled treatment. Everyone has different body shapes and it is important for our practitioners to create a treatment plan which is tailored to your body’s unique curves. The treatment is also very technical as the freezing needs to be applied exactly so to ensure a safe treatment and amazing results. Our CoolSculpting experts have been trained by the experts at Zeltiq which means that they know the best techniques to deliver excellent results and can answer any questions you may have about the treatment and the science behind it. To find out how they can help you, please get in touch with the clinic.
