Areas of excess fat can affect different parts of the body, including: Stomach, thighs, knees, buttocks, upper arms, under the chin and back. This kind of fat accumulates in the subcutaneous area (just under the skin) and can often be difficult to reduce, even though a healthy lifestyle is upheld. CoolSculpting can safely and effectively reduce stubborn fat without the need for an invasive surgical procedure.

The CoolSculpting technique uses Cryolipolysis technology and is designed to target the fat cells under the skin and destroy them through a process of controlled cooling. The treatment involves placing a gel pad and applicator onto the chosen area, which will work to cool and crystallize the fat cells. This will cause the fat cells to perish, whilst healthy skin and nerves remain untouched. As the unwanted fat cells die off, they will be naturally broken down and removed, through the body’s drainage system. The remaining fat cells will then condense and even out through the treated area, to create smoother contouring. The CoolSculpting device can be adapted to suit different sized areas of the body and is fitted with ‘Freeze Detect’ – a part of the treatment’s technologies that continuously monitor the temperature of the skin, and works to reduce the risk of the patient getting freeze burn.

A pre-treatment consultation will enable your expert anaesthetist to recommend the areas which will benefit from having CoolSculpting. The patient may need to allow up to 3 weeks for the process to become evident, as this is the average amount of time for which the body will naturally destroy and dispose of the unwanted cells. The results will produce a more desirable body profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I suitable for this treatment?

Thi treatment is likely to be suitable for men or women who are affected by localised pockets of fat on areas of the body or face, that are proving to be difficult to remove despite a healthy lifestyle. This procedure is not an intended substitute for those who are looking to remove a significant amount of weight and should be within 10% of what is considered their ideal, with a BMI below 30.

Is this a safe treatment?

CoolSculpting is considered to be a very safe treatment with results that are agreeably successful by both patients and doctors, throughout the world. This procedure is an extremely popular treatment for contouring the body and performed by trained professionals on a very frequent basis.

Will it hurt?

The treatment delivers cold temperatures to the body, which will inevitably be felt. This sensation will help to numb the area as the procedure continues. Despite a cold feeling, this is not described as being painful. The device has a vacuum applicator that sucks on the skin, which will be felt by the patient as a tugging feeling, which is also not described as painful.

What can I expect after treatment?

The results may take a few weeks to develop, when the treated area will appear smoother and better contoured. Your consultation will advise how many treatment sessions will be needed (usually between 1 and 3) in order to achieve a reduction in fatty deposits of up to 40%. If a healthy, balanced diet and a regular exercise routine is upheld, the results can last for many years. Although fat cells are destroyed, CoolSculpting will not ensure that the remaining cells will not grow if excess energy is not expelled.

Are there any side effects or risks?

CoolSculpting has a low risk of developing complications. Most patients will experience redness, swelling and bruising, which are normal and may last for several weeks. Other common effects can include: firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, temporary numbness and itching. All potential side effects will be explained during your pre-treatment consultation.

This is a quality clinic and all treatments are carried out with care. Natalie in particular is first class. The current Covid arrangements are v good. The clinic is spotless and hand sanitizer everywhere. The staff wear aprons and masks - and the reception area is screened. I felt confident they were keeping clients and staff safe
