Before undergoing a chemical peel treatment at the Light Touch Clinic, you will need to come in for a consultation to ensure that you are suitable for the treatment. Your Obagi Blue Peel Radiance treatment will begin with a gentle cleanse to maximise product penetration. Afterwards the peel will be applied to the skin. During this part of the treatment you may experience tingling while the acid is working. However, your practitioner will gently tap the skin and may use a fan to keep the treatment comfortable. After your peel has been neutralised, your practitioner will apply sunscreen to talk you through aftercare precautions.
The treatment itself takes just 30 mins and peeling is minimal* which makes it a good option for those who do not want much downtime.
The mild trauma caused by the salicylic acid in Obagi Blue Peel Radiance encourages the skin to repair itself and produce collagen – what this means for you is softer, smoother, more radiant skin with a reduction in acne and pigmentation.
What does the treatment involve?
The procedure involves applying a chemical solution to the area of concern. The solution dissolves dead surface skin cells revealing a new layer of skin that looks fresher and more youthful.
Does it hurt?
No, although you may experience a hot, tingling or itchy sensation once the solution is on your skin. This is completely normal and should subside quickly.
What will my skin look like afterwards?
Your skin may look sunburned for a few hours and you may experience some mild peeling which could last for several days. After treatment it is important to take extra care in the sun, wearing a sunblock with an SPF30 or above.
How long before I see results?
Results are generally visible immediately.
What are the risks and complications?
All non-invasive procedures carry a small amount of risk which is why they are only administered after a face to face consultation with one of our doctors during which a full assessment will be carried out and a full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.
Are Advanced Skin Peels my only option?
No, there are several other treatments that may be more suitable for your skin concern including Medical Facials. Before you undergo any of our treatments you will be invited for a consultation with one of our doctors who will analyse your skin and help you decide which treatment option is most suitable.
Your treatment will be performed by one of our highly-trained medical aestheticians.
