Spring cleaning dates back to biblical times, but the mantra – out with the old, in with the new – shouldn’t be limited to your household. As we welcome the warmer weather, we say goodbye to winter’s nourishing moisturisers and indulgent oils and update our skincare regime to reflect the arrival of spring. Light Touch Clinic has put together its top tips for a spring skincare routine to help keep your complexion healthy and glowing.
Spring Skincare Tips
Switch To A Lighter Moisturiser
Keeping the skin hydrated is essential to any skincare routine, however, the thick, heavy moisturisers that nourish the face and body during winter can cause breakouts during spring and summer. The more humid the weather, the better hydrated your skin, meaning a lightweight formula is better suited to a spring skincare regime.
Increase Exfoliation
We recommend increasing exfoliation from once a week to twice per week during spring. Whilst ridding the complexion of dead skin cells is advisable year-round, the recent change in weather is more likely to clog the pores. Be careful not to over-exfoliate as this disrupts the production of natural oils and can cause dryness and irritation.
Spring Clean Your Makeup Bag
No matter how much you love them, it’s time to part ways with old skincare products. As a rule of thumb, you should not keep creams, serums or makeup for over a year, however, each product will display its own expiration date. Makeup brushes and bags need to be cleaned or replaced regularly as they can harbour bacteria with repeated use.
Update Your SPF
Applying SPF is essential to any spring skincare routine. As our exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays increases, the daily use of sun cream is advised to prevent premature signs of ageing. The effectiveness of moisturisers containing SPF is disputed amongst skincare experts, so be sure to do your research before settling on a particular product.
Spring Skincare Treatments
Anti-wrinkle Injections
We welcome back the sun with open arms, but the same cannot be said for the prominence of the fine lines caused by squinting. Anti-wrinkle Injections relax the facial muscles that cause these creases, softening their appearance or, in some cases, eliminating them entirely.
Hydrafacial
The changing seasons can cause the skin to behave in unfamiliar ways, often becoming more oily with unwelcome blemishes. Hydrafacials can be tailored to suit your individual skin type and address specific concerns. The skin is left feeling completely rejuvenated thanks to 6 distinct stages – lymphatic drainage, deep cleansing and exfoliation, a chemical peel, extraction, hydration and LED light therapy.
Profhilo® Bio Remodelling
Profhilo® Bio Remodelling improves the texture, tone and hydration of the skin. Targeted injections introduce a specially formulated hyaluronic acid to the skin, to replace lost volume in the deeper tissues and greatly increase the skin’s moisture content. Fine lines and sagging skin appear reduced and the complexion appears naturally refreshed.
