With plenty of festive parties ahead, we all want our skin to look on top form throughout the party season. The Light Touch Clinic team have put together their last minute skin fixes to help tackle winter skin woes.
It can be really quite frustrating waking up to find a spot not long before a big event. Melissa French, our Medical Aesthetician, has a couple of tricks to help reduce inflammation and clear up the breakout.
Melissa recommends having a deep cleanse with the ZENii Clarifying Masque at home. This masque is clinically proven to treat acne, blackheads, congestion and clogged pores. The superstar ingredient in this masque is Dead Sea mud which helps regulate oil on the skin and clears out debris from pores. Zinc another important ingredient which is helps to sooth that redness and discomfort that often accompanies a breakout.
If you have time, Melissa recommends coming to the clinic for a Dermalux treatment. Using the anti-bacterial blue light, this treatment can sooth inflammation and destroy acne bacteria on the skin. This treatment doesn’t have any downtime either so you can even have it on the day of your event!
Blemish Bright by ZO is a handy topical treatment for tackling a breakout. Using salicylic acid, this treatment helps reduce redness and calms down spots. You can use this treatment up to 3 times a day too.
If you are struggling with spots a lot, you might want to pop in for a consultation with Melissa as we have a selection of treatments and skincare changes which can help.
If you’ve seen our article on the importance of beauty sleep, you probably know already that, whilst a lot of fun, late nights can wreak havoc on your skin! Sleep deprivation causes cortisol levels to soar which in turn creates those tell-tale dark circles under your eyes.
Highly praised by Janine Scott RGN, adding the Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Serum to your skincare arsenal is a good place to start. This uses a bi-mineral complex and caffeine to brighten dark circles whilst the cooling rollerball applicator soothes and awakens tired eyes.
Natalie Blakely suggests that poor sleep and dark circles are more of an ongoing issue, you might want to consider taking Ashwagandha and Rhodiola supplements to aid peaceful sleep and productive days.
However, dark circles can also form as a result of the ageing process. When we lose collagen from under our eyes, hollows can form. These can be treated with tear trough filler for a more long-term solution. By gentle injecting hyaluronic acid under the eye our medical practitioners can restore that lost volume for a bright-eyed look. As there can be some tenderness post-treatment, you should book in for this treatment at 2 weeks before a big event!
Thanks to the chilly weather, many of us suffer from dry skin during the winter months. Melissa French suggests adding a nourishing moisturiser to your skincare regime. She is a big fan of Hydrate from Obagi. This hypoallergenic formula is packed with avocado, shea butter and mango butter to hydrate the skin and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin types, we recommend it to all our INTRAcel patients post-treatment. In addition, it is non-comedogenic which means it doesn’t clog pores, making it perfect for even acne-prone skin.
