CoolSculpting Benefits over Alternatives - Light Touch Clinic

Why CoolSculpting is Better than other Body Contouring Treatments

There are many treatments available in the UK designed for body contouring and removing stubborn fat. These include more traditional liposuction surgical procedures and quicker, non-invasive options, like laser treatments or cryolipolysis (fat freezing).

As more and more people look for alternatives to invasive procedures such as abdominoplasty for flabby tummies or brachioplasty for bingo wings, the interest in non-surgical treatments grows.

But with so many non-invasive options available it can be difficult to decide which procedure is best for you. Here at the Light Touch Clinic we have highly experienced doctors and aesthetic practitioners who believe CoolSculpting fat freezing treatment is the best option for both fat reduction and body contouring.

How Does CoolSculpting Work

fat reduction step one Many of us have bulges of stubborn fat.
fat reduction step 2 These unwanted bulges contain fat cells, which can be resistant to diet and exercise.
fat reduction step three CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to target and crystallize fat cells.
fat reduction step 4 Crystallized fat cells gradually die and are naturally eliminated from your body.
fat reduction step five In the weeks and months following the treatment, the remaining fat cells condense, reducing the fat layer.
fat reduction step six CoolSculpting lets you say goodbye to stubborn fat without surgery.

It is important to remember that these treatments are not weight loss programs, but are very effective at shifting stubborn areas of fat and tighten loose skin which have proven difficult to reduce through diet and exercise alone.

Here’s how CoolSculpting compares to the most common non-surgical procedures:

Fat Freezing versus Laser Liposuction

Laser fat removal treatments are also referred to as ‘laser liposuction’ and use radiofrequency technology to heat-up larger areas of the body, such as thighs or arms. Common treatments include Vanquish (available at our clinic) and Lynton ProMax.

This laser technology is designed to only target deep layers of fatty tissue and leave healthy tissue unharmed. Vanquish in particular is very effective at covering bigger surface areas. But when it comes to tackling soft areas of pinchable fat, CoolSculpting is the best option for many patients looking to sculpt body areas that are largely disproportionate.

Common problem areas that we use CoolSculpting for are love handles, tummies, fat budges around the abdominal and flak area, and man boobs.

These areas are particularly suitable for treatment because the unique cryolipolysis process used in CoolSculpting is ideal for melting away large deposits of fat. The CoolSculpting machine is able to gently draw fat into a vacuum and expose the fat cells to very low temperatures, where they are destroyed. This allows for bigger and more problematic areas of fat to be treated in one go.

Both Vanquish and CoolSculpting offer excellent alternatives to traditional liposuction procedures, and while it depends on a patients individual needs, CoolSculpting is a better treatment when it comes to tackling flabbier areas.

CoolSculpting versus Ultrasound Cavitation

Ultra Cavitation is a new non-invasive fat removal treatment which uses ultrasound technology to break down and shrink fat cells. It works by emitting high frequency sound waves to target cellulite and vibrate fatty tissue. This causes fat cells to become damaged and be released from healthy tissue, where it’s then broken down by the body over a number of days. Available treatments in the UK include Cavi-Lipo and 3D Lipo Ultrasound Cavitation.

In our opinion, the process of how CoolSculpting targets and expels fat cells is far superior to any Ultra Cavitation treatment. This is because the cryolipolysis fat freezing process used in CoolSculpting is able to crystallise large areas of fat cells in a single application*, making it ideal for body contouring and improving overall fat loss in a single treatment area.

But don’t just take our word for it.

CoolSculpting versus Thermage

Thermage is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure designed to reform collagen under the skin through the use of radiofrequency.

The treatment differs from CoolSculpting as CoolSculpting is designed for contouring and shaping larger areas of the body, while Thermage is more commonly used for skin tightening in more delicate areas around the eyes, face, or improving the appearance of cellulite.

If using Thermage for fat reduction alone then CoolSculpting is the better option by far. This is because CoolSculpting is able to be provide significant fat reduction results* due to the minimally invasive cryolipolysis process, which is able to freeze larger areas of fat in a single application. The frozen fat is killed off and then is naturally expelled from the body over a number of weeks*.

The Thermage procedure is unable to destroy and remove fatty cells from the body and instead promotes collagen reproduction, helping skin become more tone and tight over six months*.

Here at the Light Touch Clinic we don’t offer Thermage to our patients as we prefer either ULTRAcel or Exilis Elite for skin tightening and cellulite reduction treatments.

CoolSculpting versus Tummy Tuck

A Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty) is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the stomach area (abdomen). Due to the extensiveness of the procedure general anaesthesia is needed.

As a Tummy Tuck requires major surgery it should be reserved for the most extreme cases or if non-invasive procedures have failed to provide satisfactory results. In addition, some may be unsuitable for a tummy tuck as the procedure is dependent on the patient having sagging and lax skin in the area.

We are a huge advocate of CoolSculpting, and while a tummy tuck can have dramatic results it also has a long recovery time of four to six weeks. CoolSculpting on the other hand has no recovery time*, does not require major surgery, and has noticeable results over a gradual period*.

Overall, the two procedures are vastly different. If you are considering CoolSculpting then we recommend that you arrange a consultation with our highly qualified and experienced staff who can assess if the procedure is right for you and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
