Congratulations, Kirsty!!

A massive congratulations to our practice manager Kirsty on her engagement! To help Kirsty feel her best on her big day, our aesthetic nurse practitioner Janine Scott has put together a Bespoke Bridal Beauty Plan. You can follow Kirsty’s journey and treatment experience on our blog over the coming months.

Like organising a wedding, scheduling is super important when it comes to treatment plans. This is because some treatments require multiple sessions and the best results for some of our treatments develop over time.

First stop laser!

I have been lucky enough to have laser hair removal before at the Light Touch Clinic. However, as you can imagine, it has been really challenging for me to fit in a full course around work! Timing is really important when it comes to laser hair reduction as you need to target each hair whilst it is in its active growth stage and, unhelpfully, our hairs aren’t synchronised.

During my consultation with our medical aesthetician Melissa, she explained that for the face I should be booking in for a laser treatment every 4 – 6 weeks and for other parts of the body 6 – 8 weeks would be sufficient as hair grows slower on these parts. We pencilled in my laser dates into the diary and by the wedding I will have had most of my laser sessions (you usually need 6 – 8 sessions for the best results!).

We got started today with my legs and underarms. Compared to the IPL treatment I have had previously, Soprano Ice is very comfortable. My legs felt warm during the treatment, but Melissa would move from spot to spot very quickly so no area would get too warm. In addition, there is also a cooling tip to the machine which cools the skin if it ever gets uncomfortable – it literally feels like an ice cube!

After treatment I was fine to get back to work. Melissa explained that I shouldn’t apply any deodorant for the rest of the day to avoid irritation. She also reminded me to only shave between appointments as waxing and epilating pulls out the hair from the root which can make it hard to target each of the hairs in their growth stage.
