Cellulite

Our specialists at Light Touch Clinic provide non-invasive treatment to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

About Cellulite

Cellulite is a condition that can affect both men and women and can cause the skin to look dimpled and bumpy, earning itself the pseudonym ‘orange peel’. The thighs and buttocks are the most common areas on the body where cellulite appears, although the upper arms, breasts and lower abdomen can also be affected.

The rippled effect of cellulite occurs when fat cells build up and pushes against the skin, whilst the connective fibres pull down. Cellulite can be influenced by a person’s genetics, hormones, muscle tone, and weight. It can affect adults of all ages, although it becomes more common as people get older. Cellulite generally affects more women than men. Females will often find that excess weight tends to be carried in the lower part of the body – hips, thighs and buttocks – and therefore these are the more common areas where cellulite appears.

Ageing can also contribute to this concern as the skin becomes weak and less elastic. In some cases, gaining weight can accentuate the appearance of cellulite – as fat cells become enlarged – but, this does not mean that only overweight people will be affected.

The appearance of cellulite can be reduced through increased activity levels, exercise, dieting, massage stimulation and various creams – although it can still be difficult to remove more stubborn areas of cellulite. Light Touch Clinic specialises in the effective treatment of cellulite, with results that can be permanent.
