Kirsty’s Bridal Beauty Plan: Blue Peel RADIANCE
Whilst I am usually pretty good at staying on top of my skincare routine, over the Christmas holidays I confess I did slack off slightly. However, with my wedding coming up, I have vowed to take better care of my skin this year. I needed something to help undo some of that Christmas neglect, so for a skin pick-me-up, our aesthetician Marisa suggested that I had an Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE.
When someone mentions chemical peels, many of us think of deep peels with lots of discomfort and downtime. However, the Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE is a superficial peel which means that it accelerates cell turnover in the upper layer of the skin. This means that there is less downtime and discomfort which is perfect for me as I’ve got a busy week and no time for serious downtime!
The treatment began with a quick cleanse and some Vaseline applied around sensitive areas so that the peel doesn’t get to them. Marisa applied the peel and it felt very comfortable. Some places it did feel a little tingly or itchy but Marisa tapped lightly over the skin to helped distract me whilst the peel worked its magic. Marisa explained that the main ingredient in the peel is salicylic acid, this is a beta-hydroxy acid which means it can penetrate through oil to help clear out more pores and help increase skin turnover for brighter skin. The treatment itself was very quick, the peel was neutralised and cleaned away and Marisa applied some SPF as my skin will be extra light sensitive post-treatment.
After the treatment, I took a look in the mirror and was a little red in places but nothing bad. A few days later I did notice some light flakiness but overall my skin was looking clearer and brighter. Now, a week later, my skin is looking glowing and smooth. Thanks Marisa!
