The Importance of SPF Post-IPL Treatment
EXCELIGHT IPL is one of the safest and most effective treatments of its kind that is currently available on the aesthetics market. Able to treat a number of skin concerns from pigmentation and acne to general rejuvenation, it’s our most recent addition to the wide range of world-class aesthetic treatments here at Light Touch Clinic.
If you joined us earlier in February for our IPL Consultation Day, you’ll have learnt first-hand all about the hottest new skin treatment from our team of experts, but you can find out even more information via the website.
Sun Protection Is Key
What is important to remember when considering your next IPL treatment is that sun protection is the key to a successful recovery and results optimisation. Although this is a non-ablative skin treatment, meaning that no skin is removed throughout the treatment process, there is still a risk of sensitivity and redness as you recover.
Harmful UV rays are often at the heart of the cause of your unsightly skin concerns, with years of sun damage leading to pigmentation concerns and even skin cancer. Your results from this type of treatment can span more than a year providing you take the proper steps to protect your skin in the initial days and weeks post-treatment, while maintaining appropriate sun protection all year-round.
Avoid the sun entirely for the first few days, if possible, and wear plenty of sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 for at least two weeks, such as the fantastic Heliocare SPF 50, available at Light Touch Clinic. Lucky patients who booked their IPL treatment at our clinic throughout February received a complimentary bottle as a little gift from our team to you! It is also worth noting that EXCELIGHT IPL is not suitable for anyone who has had prolonged sun exposure two weeks before treatment, so plan your treatment accordingly.
