Sculptra is a brand new injectable dermal filler that is extremely effective at reducing the signs of ageing.
The Sculptra facial filler treatment is fantastic at removing fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It is also a suitable treatment for increasing facial volume, especially in the cheeks and jowls, which help to make skin look fresher and more youthful.
Due to the simplicity of this targeted, injectable treatment, it is becoming a firm favourite with our patients looking for alternatives to a full surgical facelift.
As we age, our skin cells divide more slowly and the innermost layer begins to thin. Fat cells beneath the dermis (layers of skin) weaken and this previously strong network of collagen and elastin fibres begin to unravel – resulting in the skin losing elasticity and volume.
As a result, lines and wrinkles start to appear and the skin on the face losses volume and shape. It is this narrower shape and wrinkles which causes you to look older.
This is where the Sculptra treatment can help.
Sculptra is a biocompatible and biodegradable injectable acid (known as poly-L-lactic acid) which mimics the effects of lactic acid that is naturally made in our muscles after excise.
It is this synthetic lactic acid that is designed to stimulate skin cells so that they begin to produce collagen. It is this important substance that your body needs to have firm and youthful looking skin.
As Sculptra targets the underlying causes of facial ageing it has longer lasting result* compared to traditional dermal filler treatments.
Here at the Light Touch Clinic we will only have qualified medical practitioners administer Sculptra.
The treatment itself can usually take between thirty minutes to one hour*. Some patients may need anaesthetic, but as the procedure only requires targeted injections, the pain is minimal*, although every patient is different.
Many patients are able to get back to their day to day routine straight after the treatment* with some tenderness expected. A full recovery usually takes between two and three days*.
Results can last between two and four years and normally only one to three courses of treatments is required *.
If you are unsure whether you need dermal fillers or Sculptra, you can book a consultation with one of our medical practitioners who can examine your skin and put together a bespoke treatment plan.

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that reduces lines, wrinkles and folds and replaces the fullness of the face that has been lost by the ageing process. Sculptra works by stimulating your own facial collagen production to replenish your skin, providing a natural looking result. It works gradually to restore what has been lost and once your treatment plan is complete, the results can last for more than 2 years.
Does the treatment hurt?
Only administered by one of our medically trained practitioners, Sculptra is not an uncomfortable treatment. However, we can always offer anaesthetic cream to make the treatment more comfortable.
Is Sculptra my only option?
No, depending on the condition of your skin and the results you would like to achieve, you may also be suitable for dermal fillers.
Is Sculptra a safe treatment?
As long as it is administered by a trained medical practitioner who is experienced in the anatomy of the face, Sculptra should be safe. Sculptra does not use any human or animal components, no allergy testing is needed prior to treatments.
How many treatments will I need?
This will vary from person to person, but as a guideline we suggest 3 treatments taken 4 – 6 weeks apart. For a more accurate figure, please book a consultation.
