What do you love most about your job as a cosmetic doctor?
I strongly believe that cosmetic medicine is about confidence not vanity. How someone looks on the outside can have a massive impact on how they feel on the inside. I love hearing how the treatments at the clinic have restored our patients’ confidence and changed their lives. It is such a rewarding profession.
What motivated you to work in aesthetics and establish your own clinic?
It was a combination of factors. I was originally interested in establishing my own clinic as I had a young family and I wanted a better work-life balance. I was particularly drawn to aesthetics as it is an area of medicine where you get to spend proper time with patients – I don’t feel rushed. I get to know each of my patients as an individual and feel I can make a big difference to their confidence.
What do you think is one of the most exciting innovations in aesthetics at the moment?
I think cosmetic treatments which use radiofrequency and ultrasound are really exciting. In the clinic we use ULTRAcel which is fantastic for tightening and lifting the chin and jawline. What I think is great about radiofrequency and ultrasound treatments is that they are pain-free and have no downtime. I really believe that this is where aesthetics should be heading.
What have been some of the biggest highlights of your career?
In 2012 I won the ‘Rising Star’ award at the Aesthetic Awards which was a massive achievement. This was my first industry award and the competition was incredibly tough! I also won the award for ‘Best Non-Surgical Makeover’ at the MyFaceMyBody awards last year for an INTRAcel acne treatment I did for actress Aisling Knight. I am particularly proud of this award as the judging panel was made up of my peers. Another highlight has been relocating the Light Touch Clinic from Guildford to our larger Weybridge premises. The clinic décor is beautiful and it is equipped with the very best state-of-the-art aesthetic technology.
What is one product you wouldn’t be without?
I love CULT51 Night Cream – I am always recommending it to my patients! This clever night cream has 51 skin benefits and you can really see results. The rich formula leaves my skin feeling smooth and nourished.
What are your top 3 skincare tips?
Firstly, wash your face properly – not with a makeup wipe! Use a cleanser and follow up with an exfoliator. Takes a little bit longer, but your skin will thank you for it. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and always remember to wear SPF, even when it’s cloudy outside. Doing this will minimise sun damage and help look after your skin for the future. Finally, I think it is definitely worthwhile investing in a collagen boosting treatment such as INTRAcel. Using a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency energy, this treatment encourages your skin to produce more collagen and elastin for stronger, youthful skin.
