Dermaroller Treatment Diary

Tuesday 13th October 10.30am
Dr Blakely’s consultation room, Light Touch Clinic, Guildford

Dr Blakely took my medical history and then explained what a Dermaroller is and how it could improve my skin’s appearance. I provided my consent and it was explained to me that whilst the downtime after the treatment is nil, my skin would appear red for the remainder of the day.

I was strictly advised not to apply make-up after the treatment or after the first 12 hours. Dr Blakely removed my make-up, except for my mascara and then applied a topical anaesthetic to my entire face, including under and around my eyes.

I then sat in Light Touch Clinic’s private waiting room (only 1 client at any one time) with the anaesthetic thickly applied for 30 minutes.

11.15am

Lying on Dr Blakely’s couch she removed my anaesthetic cream with a gentle saline cleanse and then rolled the Genuine Dermaroller briskly across my face. She moved in sections and covered the whole area of my face, including my top lip and around my eyes.

The sensation is a slight stinging feeling followed by warmth where my skin is naturally beginning to mend itself.

The treatment lasted approximately 20 minutes and I was advised that if I had my neck Dermarollered it would have taken just 5 minutes longer. However, Dr Blakely recommended that I did not need to have it done.

Immediately after the treatment my skin looked very pink and I looked as if I had just been for a workout at the gym. I had slight redness on one temple and small red ‘freckles’ under my eyes.

5pm

I look as if I have mild sunburn. My cheeks still look very pink and feel warm. At home my husband comments that I look tanned.

24 hours later

Just a slight pinkness on my cheeks remains and my face feels tingly. Dr Blakely advises me that this is my skin regenerating and repairing itself naturally after the micro-trauma.

After just one session my fine lines have faded.

3-5 days later

The top layer of my skin feels dry and I apply a home peel to remove the dead skin.

Second Treatment

Since my first treatment I have noticed the pores on my cheeks have reduced in size and my skin feels plumper and less dry. Six weeks later I returned for my second treatment.

I was so impressed with my initial treatment that I also had the Genuine Dermaroller treatment on a stretch mark that has always bothered me. Dr Natalie advised me that because I have had it for some time I will not notice an immediate improvement but through consistent treatment it should fade.

As before, my skin was red afterwards and I wore my complimentary SPF that the clinic gave me as my skin is more photo-sensitive immediately after the treatment.

Third Treatment

Dr Natalie was able to use the Genuine Dermaroller around my eyes - an area I find I am becoming more concerned with as I age. Also, Dr Natalie recommended the Homekit to use which I have been doing 2-3 times a week as instructed.

The results speak for themselves. I feel my skin has a dewy glow, my fine lines have been minimised and overall feels healthy and taut.
