Wrinkle Reducing Treatments
Wrinkle relaxing injections (commonly known as botox)
This very popular and well known treatment is highly effective at softening fine lines and wrinkles in the upper part of the face, leaving a more refreshed appearance. Light Touch Clinic delivers expert doctor-administered, wrinkle-relaxing treatment, (Botox), that's convenient for clients in Guildford, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and the home counties.
Botox
Botox is a highly effective anti-aging treatment, but did you know that the active substance, (onabotulinumtoxinA), been used in medicine for more than 50 years? Initially it was used to treat Strabismus (lazy eye), Blepharospasm (a twitch of the eyelid) and some muscle rigidity.
In April 2002, it was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug administration) for cosmetic use. Since then it has been used in over 66 countries and is the most popular non surgical cosmetic procedure worldwide.
The injections are a simple, effective procedure that can temporarily smooth out and relax frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet. The treatments are popular because they are safe, effective and virtually painless. Results can be seen within days and the effects last between 3-6 months.
Botox works by affecting the muscle lying beneath the skin. It is the action of the muscle moving and crinkling the overlying skin which leads to the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Botox temporarily prevents the nerve from sending its signal to the muscle. The muscle has reduced movement and ability to move the overlying skin which means that the skin is not getting constantly creased when we smile, frown or laugh.
Frequently asked questions about wrinkle-relaxing treatments:
Will it hurt?
The treatment involves a small amount of carefully placed injections to accurately target the muscles we wish to affect. We use very fine needles and change the needles often. Most people tolerate the wrinkle treatment well and liken the injection to plucking a hair.
How will I look when I leave the clinic?
Dr Natalie Blakely is extremely careful to ensure that by the time the treatment is done and a healing cream applied, most people would show no signs of having been treated. Occasionally an injection may cause a small bruise. A mineral make-up can be applied after treatment if there is any residual redness post treatment.
How long will it take?
Consultation and treatment will take 30 minutes
How long will the effects of the treatment last?
On average, your treatment will last between 3 and 6 months.
How much does it cost?
Depending upon the area requiring treatment, our botox prices range
from £200 - £300
Once I have had it done and it wears off, will I look worse than I did before?
No, botox will temporarily rest the muscles and prevent them from moving the overlying skin. Once the treatment wears off, you will go back to looking the same as you did before the treatment. In fact, by not being able to crease the skin, you are actually preventing the wrinkles from deepening. There is a school of thought that botox can be used as a preventive treatment to prevent lines and wrinkles appearing in the first place.
Will I still be able to smile at the children?
At Light Touch medical Clinic, we specialise in a lighter more natural looking treatment, this means softening the appearance of lines and wrinkles whilst preserving facial expression – so yes, you will still be able to smile – or frown – at the children. Please note, that expectant or breast feeding mothers are not suitable for this treatment.
Can wrinkle-relaxing treatments be used with other treatments?
Botox, when combined with other anti-aging treatments may be able to delay, or prevent the need for a face lift. By combining wrinkle-relaxing treatments with collagen generating skin treatments, such as Dermaroller or Sculptra, the appearance of facial wrinkles can be reduced, giving the appearance of younger skin.
Botox when combined with Restylane Vital is another popular combination of non surgical cosmetic treatments for getting rid
of wrinkles. Whilst botox gives a smoother appearance to the skin, the Restylane Vital plumps the skin from within. This form of skin
rejuvenation is very popular with our clients in their 40s and 50s as it may hold off the need for plastic surgery.
