Janine Scott is our Senior Aesthetic Practitioner at the Light Touch Clinic. Get to know her in greater detail, including what she dislikes about the aesthetic industry and her hero products in this interview.

How did you begin your career in aesthetics?

Before entering the world of aesthetics, I worked as a theatre nurse specializing in plastic and vascular surgery alongside 8 plastic surgeon consultants at St Thomas’ Hospital. It seemed a natural progression to enter the world of aesthetic medicine.

What do you love most about your job?

I love meeting my patients for the first time, it is a very important part of the relationship where I really get to know what each patient wishes to improve. I always strive to combine treatments that deliver a look that enhances the patient’s natural beauty, no one should ever look over filled or ‘done’.

What a patient desires and what they actually need may be two different things. My job is to work with a patient giving a clear and honest opinion on what can be achieved, always with the goal of looking effortlessly beautiful.

Is there anything you dislike about the industry?

I am well-known for my light approach when it comes to rejuvenation, especially injectables like Botox and filler. Unfortunately, these treatments often get a bad press thanks to heavy-handed work on celebrities in the media. It really saddens me when I see a patient that has been over filled, lips being a particular bug bear. The ‘slug’ lip should be banned!

Done correctly and carefully, filler and Botox can deliver beautiful, confidence-boosting results.

Hero Product

Vitamin C Serum – Free radicals are a common part of everyday modern life, Vitamin C will go some way towards mopping these up as well as slightly evening out skin tone over a period of time. I love Obagi 15% Vitamin C, it has been a hero product of mine for years and I always recommend it to my patients!

Career Highlights

I am delighted to have been featured in Tatler in an article on the 10 best cosmetic nurses in the country. It was a real honour and the article celebrates the amazing work we can achieve with aesthetics.
